Çevre College student Ece Sevenay came second in the International Essay Competition themed ‘Education to Build a Better Future for All’, which was held by UNESCO.

Among 153 countries and 12.937 participants, Çevre College student Ece Sevenay, with her essay entitled ‘Education System in My Utopia’, is a second prize winner in the English Essay Competition organised by UNESCO.

Ece Sevenay’s worldwide success proves yet again that Çevre College has a strong foreign languages programme based on the vision of SEPT (Studying English through Projects and Tests).

Organised by UNESCO in June 2016, among 153 countries 12.937 students took part in the essay competition themed ‘Education to Build a Better Future for All.’ In this competition, students under 25 expressed their ideas in order to design a brighter future regarding education systems. With her second prize winning essay Ece Sevenay received 50.000 Japanese Yen.

On receiving the proudest achievement, Nurhan Deniz, Çevre High School Principal states, ‘Academic success is not coincidental at Çevre College but a result of raising inquisitive world citizens.

Ece Sevenay, on the other hand, states, ‘As we are experiencing the education system ourselves, we can easily see what it lacks. Therefore, I conclude that we should not categorise an individual within conventional rules but cherish his / her diversities.’ She adds, ‘One of the fundamental objectives of the education system should be to raise investigative and inquisitive students,  not robots who know everything by heart. I’ve gained this awareness at Çevre College. I am proud to receive this award on behalf of myself and my school.’
