AFAD Trip
On April 12, 2019 organised by the Social Science department, our 10th graders visited AFAD Yeşilköy Campus with our geography teacher Sedef Turan.
Living in an earthquake country, we learnt the importance of what should be done before, during and after the earthquake. Then we watched three-dimensional earthquake films followed by the questions of our students. Our students had the chance to experience the 1999 Izmit earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 at the earthquake simulator and learned what to do during the earthquake.
Then, in the training bay of search and rescue dogs, which play a vital role in the aftermath of the earthquake, they simulated an earthquake with the rescue dog named Dex.
The simulations in the virtual reality room and the flood pond enabled them to realise that it is possible to experience such disasters. Our students were pleased to have attended this fruitful trip.
