3rd Graders at Dolmabahçe Palace
Our 3rd grade students visited the “Dolmabahçe Palace” on October 18,2019. This has been our second trip for the academic year 2019-2020.
Our students prepared themselves for this trip by doing the pre-research activities in their travel booklets.
Our students not only visited Atatürk’s bedroom where he spent the last days of his life and died but also saw his favourite painting on the wall.
Dolmabahçe Palace was built by the 31st Ottoman Empire Sultan Abdülmecit (1839-1861). Dolmabahçe Palace has 285 rooms and 43 living rooms. The large reception hall, illuminated by 750 lights, attracted the attention of our students with its enormous 4.5 ton crystal chandelier.
It was interesting to visit this Palace, which reflects the last periods of the Ottoman Empire, to see the huge carpets in the halls, valuable items and gardens.
Thanks to our trip, our students realized the value and importance of our past.
