Tree Houses

We learned ‘’Tree House’’ unit which is extended in GEMS program, during the month of December. Students made observations in the garden. Students observed trees and their bark. They made question and answer exercises such as, “What is the structure of a tree?, How many parts do trees have?, Which animals live in the tree?,  What is the importance of trees for the universe?’’ Moreover, we made mathematic and exercises by counting the holes of trees. Students made tree houses from recycling materials in their classroom.

We learned about “Bears,Raccoons and Owls” and their habitats through drama. We discussed about their specialities, feeding habits and how they keep warm. We did experiments about how these animals keep warm. We made raccoons and owls out of recycled metarials. We collected  different kinds of nuts and counted, subtracted and added them through a group work activity. We made a bar-chart. We made owls out of paper bags and examined their features.

GEMS programs enabled Çevre students to be aware of their environment and supported them in science and mathematics activities.
