Gems Ladybirds

In our preschool reception class students had a talk about “Ladybird Insects” in Gems program. They learned about ladybird pupae, their life cycle, their habitats and their physical properties. They did drama on the protection and defense of themselves and their eggs. They recognised ladybirds ovaries and bugs that harm the trees, feeding on eaten leaves. They tried to find answers to science and nature activities in order to find out how ladybirds save trees. By creating a ladybird model, they discovered the symmetry in the ladybird and in their own bodies and learned the concept of symmetry.

GEMS “Ladybird Insect” activities; the concept of modeling, comparison, predicting, ranking, relation and symmetry were observed.
